Enrollment at Baker University’s Baldwin City campus offers a life enhancing experience that promotes rigorous scholarship and integrates student learning, student development, and student engagement in ways that educate the whole person and inspire student success and fulfillment. Liberal arts education provides the foundation of the educational experience for all programs, including those leading to a professional degree. The curriculum is infused with exposure to ethical considerations, experiential learning opportunities, and thoughtful reflection that, together, help students translate theory and research into practical tools for principled decision making and creative problem solving at work, at home, and in the global community.
This intentional combination of liberal arts, professional programs, and experiential learning is designed to produce open-minded critical thinkers who understand diverse people and perspectives and are prepared to lead in their chosen profession. By encouraging faith and exploration and deliberately surrounding the students with meaningful opportunities for student development and engagement in learning communities outside the classroom and beyond campus borders, we encourage each student to embrace our core values of community, character, and responsible citizenship.
These pursuits reflect a steadfast belief in the relevance and importance of liberal arts education and a resolute commitment to our United Methodist heritage.

`“Overall I was impressed with the number of classes that integrated into Baker University’s curriculum,” she said. “As a result, I repeated very few classes. Because of this, I was able to graduate from Baker in two school years.”
“Professors are always willing to talk with students outside the classroom about academic, personal and career issues. Many faculty members were able to see students at impromptu meetings and have an open-door policy toward their students. Most professors I encountered returned e-mails and phone calls quickly. Baker University’s faculty, overall, are highly qualified individuals that care about a student’s well-being and success. My experience with professors in the mass media department was especially positive. These individuals are quality instructors who not only possess the proper academic credentials; they also held a substantial work history in the mass media field. The combination of both of these provided students with quality class instruction and sound advice about producing a newspaper, TV newscast or radio show.”
“The Baker University faculty, especially the biology department, helped direct Taylor Parker to a proper course toward dentistry. “I vividly remember the chairperson of the biology department. Dr. Cal Cink, reviewing my community college transcript and plotting a multi-semester path for me based upon my career goals. Dr. Darcy Russell was an excellent resource for my pre-dental requirements and provided valuable guidance. My time with the biology department, in athletics, and everywhere else on campus was truly a positive experience for me. I loved the small college campus atmosphere because of how driven most of the students and faculty were in terms of education. It was truly conducive to my learning.”
