transfer guide
founded 1887

Sterling College is a Christ-centered college with an emphasis on personal relationships and opportunities. Sterling students coming from community colleges not only find the opportunity to be involved with previous areas of interest but also the chance to get involved in new areas. Many community college transfer students find themselves in leadership roles in student government, campus activities, arts groups as well as athletics. Some students are also led to become involved with campus ministries, worship leadership and mission trips.

Testimonials
“I am a 20 year old transfer student from Hutchinson Community College, so that makes me a junior! Cool right! My major is a
combination of elementary education and special education. For me the best job ever would be me teaching in a third-world country where I would be paid in food and shelter or maybe at a school of orphans…any way I can give back!
“I chose Sterling for these reasons:
1. My roommate! She is really, really awesome! Her name is Candice Williams if you don’t meet her yet you’re missing out! This girl is crazy cool and all she did last year was talk up Sterling, so I knew I had to at least take a look.
2. The people! When I took a closer look I feel in love, I knew this was where God wanted me. Everyone is so friendly and they all seemed to be a huge family, I loved that.
3. God! I have gone to a public school all of my life and I just really needed to see what it was like to be on a campus that openly loved God. It’s possible to find God on a public campus but it’s not easy. Here I can talk about God and not put up walls because I might need to defend my faith. It’s so awe striking to sit in an auditorium and see hundreds of students and teacher bow their heads and give thanks to God! It feels so right. That is why I am here and that is why I love this place. I know that at Sterling there is something for every person no matter whom you are or where you are in life; you too can fall in love with this place!” — Salima Watson
