Web Site Connects Students to $50,000,000 in Scholarships

Eighteen Kansas private colleges plan to award a combined $50,000,000 in scholarships to eligible students. The private colleges have launched the Web site Proud2bPrivate.com to help students learn what scholarships are available, as well as obtain additional admissions information. Among the tools developed for this joint endeavor is the universal scholarship and admissions inquiry form.

"We wanted to simplify a lot of the details in the search for a college and the application process," said Doug Penner, President of the Kansas Independent College Association. "With the universal form, students and parents can request to receive scholarship and admissions information from up to 18 Kansas private colleges with just one form."

The form connects people with a large amount of potential assistance. Each college has specific scholarship opportunities. Students using the site can learn more about the individual colleges and request information from those schools that best match their preferences.

"A lot of students and parents aren't aware that these opportunities are available," said Penner. "By combining our resources in developing this tool, we're making that information a lot more accessible."
