College is a big investment, but investment is the key word. The cost of an education cannot be measured without considering the future earning potential gained from the experience. And yet, the initial cost may not be as much as you think. There are many opportunities to take advantage of financial aid and scholarship. And if you don’t think you qualify, you might be surprised.
Federal Financial Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA is a great place to start in your search for college funding. The FAFSA application must be submitted between January 1 and April 1 of the school year that you intend to enroll. To find out more about FAFSA and how you can apply online, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.

State Student Aid
You must complete and submit the State of Kansas Student Aid Application if you want to apply for any of the following programs: Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship, Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship, Kansas State Scholarship, or the Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship. Institutional Aid and Scholarships
Each of Kansas’ 18 private colleges offers a variety of scholarship and financial aid opportunities. By using the tool here, you can get information on these programs. Select as many of the schools as you like from the dropdown list and click submit. Your information will be passed on to the admissions department of the schools you selected. From there, someone from each of these schools will contact you with information about available programs.
